Chloe was born in London to immigrant filipino overseas worker (OFW) parents who migration to the UK for a better life.
Although they worked hard day and night, money was tight for
the family you came to the UK with nothing.
Despite her humble beginning, Chloe showed an early aptitude
for learning. She was particularly talented with mathematics and was racing
ahead of her school friends after her parents found the money to send her to
private Kumon lessons.
At 8-years old Chloe could solve complex quadratic equations
normally taught to A-Level students. She was even able to demonstrate this

The child genius scored 143 on a recent Mensa test, but
brains alone are not enough without hard work.
Chloe is extremely disciplined with her time and plans every
aspect of her day. She also sets short and long-term goals.
She aims high. Having won a place at one of London’s top
high schools starting this month, she has set her sights becoming a paediatrician
at Oxford University.
Her now single mum devotes her life to Chloe even if her salary
as a care supervisor does not stretch very far when it comes to paying for an
expensive uniform or Kumon lessons.
Chloe is an engaging speaking and takes part in pageants and
talent shows in her spare time. She’s also a talented artist and an avid reader
of a wide range of subjects from Shakespeare to world affairs and anything she
can find in her encyclopaedia!
Her work ethic and positive attitude are typical of the many
migrants who succeed in the UK despite starting with no money, no contacts and
none of the advantages of native-born Britons.
Chloe and her mother are an inspiration to us all and I have
no doubt that she will go far and wish her every success.
I notice that kids are very good at creating videos and
posts on social media. Unlike me, they have grown up with IT and social media,
but that doesn’t mean us oldies can’t get in on the act!
